Artfully Healing through Creative Expression and Sound Healing
Art created by healing art participant
(Individual healing art session)
Artfully healing through playful creative expression and sound healing are given in therapeutic group sessions using painting and sound to unlock, release, connect to yourself, and discover the answers you seek through creative expression. It’s for ANYONE who wants to use intentional creativity, artistic expression, and playfulness for emotional release or to connect to oneself. NO EXPERIENCE is necessary to engage in this practice. I’ve witnessed fantastic paintings emerge using this deep dive into healing through art by people who mouthed the words, “I’m not creative” and “I’ve never painted before.” This creative release is more about the process than the result.
This offering is for four weeks, with sessions lasting a minimum of two hours each week. There is some flexibility for it to spill over past the allotted two hours, with a maximum of 2.5 - 3 hours allotted. This will be assessed with each session and will depend on the weekly progress for each participant.

What is a sound bath?
A sound bath is a deeply relaxing experience where the participant is “bathed” in sound and vibrations. Kelly will use a variety of soothing instruments such as chimes, gongs, crystal singing bowls, harp, drums, and more to assist folks into a deeper state of consciousness. This meditative state nurtures body and mind and can be a wonderful avenue for awareness and self-discovery.
What do I need to bring?
Yoga mat or meditation pillow for sound bath
Water bottle
Wear comfy clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on
Bring an apron to wear for added protection if you want
A composition notebook or journal to write in during our sessions. You may want to write down certain emotions that come up so you can write more on it later, or ideas that come to you during the magic flow of creation, or anything else that comes to mind. You’ll be given homework to complete in between our sessions that will aid in your process each week. You’ll need something to write these assignments in.
As is the case with any healing work, you get out of it what you put into it.
MEET YOUR FACILITATORS
Meet Toni Becker
Toni is a mixed media intuitive artist who creates whimsy colorful art inspired by nature and everyday life. She designs art that speaks to your heart, soothes your spirit, and inspires you to engage in self-expression. Art is her way of interpreting everyday situations, her emotions, and her connection the world. She uses creative expression as healing modality to process life and the emotions that erupt as a result, to reflect the beauty she sees in the world, and to connect with herself and the world around her. Her art is whimsical in design, infusing bright, bold colors for healing and to spark joy in the person viewing her art.
As a healing art facilitator and Reiki practitioner she leads the participant to engage with creative expression to transmute emotions, pain, stress, and grief through the act of playful creativity, supportive conversations, and gentle nudges to seek for answers within. The modalities that are used in her facilitated healing art sessions are the following: color, ritual/ceremony, Reiki and energy healing, breathing, journaling, and other modalities that will aid in a person’s journey through art.
Meet Kelly Abbe
Kelly is a local energy and sound healing practitioner and singer/songwriter. She combines Reiki, energy medicine, sound vibration practices, and spiritual guidance to assist others to heal emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. She also conducts group sound baths that incorporate a wide variety of instruments such as gongs, chimes, singing bowls, strings, drums, and more to create a relaxing and meditative state of mind and body. She is currently in the Master Gardener program for Forsyth County and is also training to be certified as a therapeutic horticulturist through the NC Botanical Gardens and NC State extensions. She is looking forward to incorporating therapeutic horticulture practices into her wellness services.
Kelly has a strong pull on her heart for the LGBTQ+ community, especially in the areas of church trauma, high-conflict relationships, and parental rejections. She has recently come back to her lifelong passion of singing and songwriting. She put down her guitar over two decades ago because of how intertwined it was with her church trauma. Last year, she picked it up again and began to write about her experiences. Through the expression of song, she has been healing the trauma that held her back for so long. Music to her, is one of the most powerful mediums for healing and growth.
